how do i get all the white pixels in a layer transparant, or remove them ?

haha

use your wand to select a white area. then from the 'select' pulldown menu, select similar. then delete. if it's on your 'background' layer, double click it first and rename it.
is that what you mean?

yes, great!
thanks sylabik

play with the blending options in the layer palette. you can make all white transparent without having to delete it.

if it's the default white background on the 'background' layer, double click it and hit return on the layers palette. select all > delete.
