my problem:
im copying text from a pdf document. then im pasting the text into notepad. then im copying that text in notepad to get rid of hidden characters. i make a box in illustrator and then paste the copied text into it. but the text still acts like its got hidden character in it or something!
like it doesnt just word wrap, so i have long sentences alternating with single words on a whole line. this phreakn sucks, its my first time doing something of this sort. i later have to export the file as a pdf. any ideas?
peaceNadvance.

try saving the notepad file as a plain text file.
reopen it and copy-paste

I believe it all depends on how the PDF was generated. If it was generated by an Adobe product, it is typically editable and the text blocks translate. If they are from Word or Quark, they usually break into little pieces of text.

oh...I always thought pasting in notepad would get rid of such a thing. this is phreaking annoying i have no clue what to do now...keep deleting the line breaks? it will only take 10 years...oh man

The cut and paste trick only works if it's all in one text block. If not, you're screwed.

are you serious man? damn im screwed then? arg, im gonna get a punching bag and spray paint "adobe" on it.
thanks for the suggestions so far though...anyone else possibly have an idea?

if there is a solution, i'd love to hear it, too. when we have to edit freehand files and such we usually have to reflow the text coz the text paths get all chopped up.

YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH mothafucka!
tedious but it works! i basically copied the text in notepad and inserted html tags into it. then opened it as a webpage, copy and pasted that, and it worked!so greedo, u might wanna try that in the future. but thanks for the suggestions peeps.

another thing you can do, is to do a search and replace for line breaks.
Use a text editor that supports regular expressions.
search for "\n" replace with "".

I'll definitely give that a try next time. Thanks for the tip.
