Hi
Probably a dumb question but please watch the intro of http://youworkforthem.com/quickt…
The (masking?) effect where the two bended lines are drawn, what's the easiest way to do this? This effect is in almost every motion piece I see on the web (rainbows that are drawn like this, flowers and trees etc..)
Thanks so much.

Ive achieved something similar with the write-on filter, but it took me ages. But i was just learning it as i went along. i'll do a search for a tutorial for ya.

Thanks Donal, I found that tutorial too..
The problem with the write-on and the stroke filter is that they always work with a brush wich always causes a 'rounded edge', know what I mean?

haven't looked through to see if there's a tutorial available for what you want, but here's a whole butt load of 'em.

Some times effects are a lot easier than they look. I assume you are talking about the very first scene.
With something as simple as that you can always make the two white lines and not animate them at ALL. Then simply make a shape that is the same color as the back ground, then move that shape in some motion that reveals your image/lines/type/etc., granted this is only for fairly simple animations, just depens on the effect you want, but sometimes simplier is better

For perfectly animated masks, I usually do this in a 3D program as they offer the ability to animate along an extruded spline. Thus, if you create a white "constant" object and animate it along a spline, it can act as an alpha for a variety of things. This is probably overcomplicating things--especially in this case.

I just use a combo of linear wipe and radial wipe located in
EFFECT->TRANSITION-> LINEAR WIPE / RADIAL WIPE.These are the plugins that I used for writing on the A - B - and C on for the ABC 2002 campaign (go to my website and check out work)
once you get the hang, it Takes two seconds.

sure seems to be gradient wipe- especially for something as simple as that. see the creative cow forums- some guy taught me how to do so a few years back.
but as mentioned- if ya want to do more complex anims with revealing and growing shapes then 3D is the go.
