yep. they're not made anymore. but they are still available. some stores still have them. always on sale since "no one" wants them. i do notice more and more complete sets being sold on ebay with an ever increasing price. so i guess at one point they will become collectors items.

there's two stores in Antwerp that have loads of them.. one of them is Schleiper, a giant Jewish art-supply store which has almost ALL the sheets of Letraset ordered in a big filing-cabinet...but very expensive: 7 euro per sheet!!
the other i never checked, it's somewhere close to the Groenplaats, i heard they sell them for only 50c a piece there!! I reckon they're sold out there now..
I still have loads here with Helvetica in various weights..

Thanks
Guess I have to stop in Antwerp than on my way to Barcelona in August.
But now that I know that they are a rarity... I guess I would feel guilty using them anyway. damn
PS:
Are those the same sheets or something different ?

i used to buy a lot in amsterdam. if you check ebay you can find a lot as well. the entire kits with cabinet tend to be quite expensive but look good. there are different brands next to letraset as well, brands like mecanorma and alfac for instance.

yup, i have quite a bunch of Alfac here.. got them for free from an old printer, he never used them anymore.

do you use them dutchboy? if so, what for. i'm nosey. Ta.
- DutchBoy0
not much. i've been experimenting mainly, trying them on different materials, like transparents and wood etc..
i have seen giant funky 70's style letters though! very expensive, but interesting to use for exhibitions or artworks..

I made a couple of pieces with them.

mm interesting. i wonder why they dont make those rub down transfer scenecs you used to get as a kid.. i loved those. star was etc. ace.
- warheros0
dude, last i knew you could get rub on letters at any store that sold architectural supplies, like for students. as i was once one. some people who dont know how to letter use them.
yeah.
- DutchBoy0
woah, yeah, those scenes and pictures, i remember they had some as well at Schleiper, more dingbat like..
oh and yes, at Schleiper the Letraset cabinet is at the architecture supply dept., so i reckon you'd prolly still get them at these sort of places..

oh and my father used to have loads of them, he used them to rub on titlesequences for films etc..
and he sucked at it in the beginning, but for his artschool film he intentionally aligned them in a bad way, which actually made it fit the film pretty good, as it was a bit of a tragic story..
