I just got a DVD burner package that includes iLife shipped to me at work. I can't wait to get my hands on Garageband. Anybody play around with it yet? Let me know what to expect.

It's alright for a cheap program.

i want to be able to do multitrack recording (with live instruments), you can use it for that, right?
- Mimio0
Sure, there's a capture utility built in.

I got Soundtrack- love it.

I use cakewalk's proaudio. my version's kinda old (they've since upgraded to 'sonar 3'), but works extremely well for mulitrack recording.

i used to use protools free, but they decided not to make an OSX version, which sucks cause i really liked that one.

you need a real keyboard to even make garageband worth while

and you totally need a big garage.

Yeah, thats so wack that ProTools free doesnt work for OSX. It doesnt even work in classic.
But, you can buy an Mbox from digidesign which gets you a badass soundcard, the full version of protools, and way more hookups/ jacks and filters for recording live.

I forgot to say its 400 bucks. not bad

i have a sound card with midi already, thats why i wanted to try out garageband, for recording and to check out the virtual instruments. cause i dont feel like spending alot of money for just goofing off making songs for fun. even logic lite or whatever it is is too expensive for my blood.
