Beyond the gay gmail threads, i was wondering what all these organizations REALLY want to accomplish with the massive inboxes they're offering.
in 2000, i remember reading an article by bill gates in business 2.0 predicting the future, and he said "the future is as big as your inbox". and i think that future is here now.
why a hotmail inbox went from 2mb to 250 mb instantly without 50 mb or even 20mb inboxes is beyond me. any theories? well more importantly would be the attachment size to this argument.

I think having a gigabyte of old email would be a nuisance.

the more you store, the more they can scan.

the only reason to have limits is space.
If space didn't matter [unlimited storage] would we really say.... Limit it for practicality? No.

free mail services are giving users more storage space to keep up with gmail and to not lose their 'customers' to gmail... you can send fucking bigass attachments now with 250megs - 1 gig.
maybe they're thinking more along the lines of an online storage space / email?....pictures, music, movies, etc?

One day (soon) there wil be no practical limits on space... get used to it.
The only problem will be finding anything.

It's also cause the cost of RAM, Hard Drives has dropped considerably, making it feasable for these companies with deeeeep pockets...
