Need some advice. I'm contemplating on what to do. I have a project looming over my head that I have yet to sign the papers on (freelance). It's for a suburb of Chicago city. Pretty big I'm sure, exact size I don't know. They want to be able to pay water bills and city stickers online. (Not really sure how to accomplish this task but they have miva merchant and we're talking it through). My problem...
I am in the process of selling my home. As of August 15th I will be dieting/training for a bodybuilding show November 6th. And I have a somewhat needy girlfriend. The project I'm thinking will take me like 2 months if not more of freelance work because I work full time. I need the cash, which the project is billed at $6500. Should I take it? I could use the extra money but I totally know this project is going to be a huge pain in the ass monster! What should I do. 6500 is a lot to say no to but I don't want this to fuck up my training for my show.

IF being the key word... nothing. I will qualify for a National level competition that could score me sponsorship but that's also a big IF. More than anything else it's doing it that is the real reward. Like marathon runners, wtf are they thinking?!? Ask them why they do it and they'll say "if we have to tell you you wouldn't understand." Same thing here.

Reads like you might be taking too much on. I'd say f®©k looking at a computer screen and instead tone dem muscles.
plus $6500 doesn't sound like a lot of cash for the project you just described.

i was thinking the same thing bluejam. $6500 isn't a whole lot in the grand sceme of things.

I know. When I started putting bids in on the project I was busted ass broke and had no full time job. Now months later I have a steady job that pays the bills. It's not much but it's enough to get by ya know. I needed it then... A LOT, and I do need it now but I seriously don't know if it's going to be worth it. I'm just afraid it's going to be a major task and interfere with all my freetime.

yeah thats how much i normally start a project at, you making me think i am overcharging. if you can afford to pass, i say pass, less stress and one less pissed off client. go lift weights (typing this as i eat a bag of chips)

Your contract or proposal should have a clause in there allowing your to revamp your prices after 30 days. It sounds like they've been sitting on it for awhile. If you do have that clause, triple the price and hire someone else to do it.

Just met with the guy. The online ordering thing isn't what he said. The user logs in, enters in their information in a form, including card info and amount, clicks send and it goes to a web server that virtualy swipes the card. then it's either accepted or rejected.
there seems to be a shitload of content though. more than what i bargained for.
money is money and the design that i came up with rocks but i think i'm going to pass the project along to someone else.
just though all of you who love me so much would want to know. haha.
