Can you suggest a PC that I can use for heavy duty video editing? I need power AND value.

pIV 2.6 mhz 800fsb
1gb ram
80gb system drive (must be 7200rpm)
decent video card
decent sound card
firewire cardall shouldn't cost you more than $800.
Add Vegas Video and you got a great video editing system.

that sounds about right...where can I find something like that?

kbags, as millions of NT members :) will tell you you should try building the sucka yourself (cheapest components and best service is at http://www.newegg.com), but if you don't wanna build, buy with these guys http://www.abspc.com , great company, great prices, awards all over the place.

Any Dell with a Dual Xeon Processor. Stick with Sonic Foundry/Sound Forge for the apps too: Sound Forge (audio), Vegas Video (video) keep it simple, you'll be happy. You can throw in DVD Architect if need be from them too. Easy as pie.

get a G5, then print out Dell stickers for it. Is your boss smart enought to figure it out?

Tee hee. No, I'm not smart enough to figure it out!
I've got Adobe Premiere already, just need to upgrade the system. I actually have access to a G5 whenever I need it, but want an XP platform as well.
