anyone used a headhunter (ny) to help them find a job? good... bad.... whats the deal yo?

normally it's the other way around, hence the term headhunter, or else it would be called a companyhunter or something. companies hire headhunters to locate and "steal" the appropriate person from another company. btw i've never ever heard about headhunters in the design industry. only if it's on a ceo / cfo level but never on the creative level. but i'm talking europe here.

Candidate led recruitment is more commonly called spec'ing a candidate in - or speculatively searching on behalf of the candidate.
Make sure you get a friendly, well-informed agent who can act on your behalf and actually WANT to find you a job.
Headhunters normally operate at the senior level in all industries - but its a horrid term which basically means searching for the right candidate and can be attributed to any level of recruitment

When ever I here that term, I think of people in suits working around London getting there head blow off there shoulders and no body blinks and eye.
"Look said a tourist" there is someone being headhunted.

be careful when deling with headhunters in nyc, as a lot of them work for specific companies rather than themselves, also i big problem when dealing with them is that unless you are at senior level they will try to get yo uto take home some work and re-re-rebuild your portfolio...it all ddepends on your level of experience...dealing with them is another source for getting ajob and that is the bottom line. do what you need to do but dont completely rely on them as they are looking to fill their pockets before getting you a job that suits you and your talents.
good luck...
what industry are you in? or going to be?

there must be some... There are a few headhunters in the automotive design field (covering everything from junior designer to management), and thats a real niche field.
