anyone go skydiving? I went on Sunday... unreal. I hear everyone here talking about how they like extreme sports but I only hear about boarding and biking...

I would love to do skydiving. But i think I would bottle out at the last minit.
Push me now.

I'd do it on a static line. Being nut-to-butt tandem with some mullet-esque instructor seems lame.

i think i would pee in my jumpsuit

I did it and it all went wrong, after jumping out of the plane solo (not tandem) I did about 6 somersaults and spun around uncontrollably before the instructor could help straighten me out. A full 60 second freefall. Those first 10 seconds I thought I was going to bite the big one.

I did a tandem a couple of years ago. It wasn't lame at all, in fact it was brilliant. I'd recommend it as a real high - 14000 feet up and only one way down...
If you do it, get pictures! Your face moulded like the guy out of Red Dwarf (hmmm, maybe only jevad will know this) gets a laugh every time.

You don't have to do tandem if you take a 6 hour class.

how does static work?

I did a tandem a couple years ago. First 3 seconds were scary as fuck (while you reach terminal velocity). Then the freefall after that was pretty cool. You feel like you're superman.
If you do it get the video and the photos otherwise no one will believe you.
Plus, chicks dig it (no... really)

"Your face moulded like the guy out of Red Dwarf "
hahahha!
Actually I'd like to try it - I would just be dead scared - I often have nightmares about falling out of the sky....

yeh its tha shizznit! you think it would feel like a roller coaster or bungee jumping ...but its not. complete weightlessness, wind rushing, the views ya cant beat it! :)

brandelec: how does static work?
in short. you join the army and they pull the shoot for ya.

WHAT?!
Skydiving a extreme sport?
Offroad biking is, for sure.
But skydiving?
The only thing you have to do is to get an airplane with a pilot, jump out the plane, FALL, and pull the cord at the right moment. It can be fun, but an extreme sport?
NO.

i went, it was awesome. in new york (and i think all of america) you MUST do tandem, no amount of video watching will legally allow you to jump solo your first 3 or 4 times, i think. but it's real easy to forget about the guy behind you. just make sure your nuts are in place, that harness tightens up quick when the chute goes out :)

-----------when i jumped it certainly was not a sport, but what about those guys who do flips and all kinds of crazy tricks in the air?
- stewart0
that, my friend, is AEROBATICS.

Yeah, that harness really rubs when the chute opens. Here's a link to my pics:

Got a link to your pics liquid?

aaakpth , you can jump on your own if you take a long ass class, in California anyway. I did it my first time out of Perris. I had an instructor jumping beside me, but I wasn't strapped to him.

my jump was disapointing. the earth is so far away that you don't even feel like "flying" the noise's so so huge that you can't hear shit and the air squizes your moyth trying to suficate you... Dud i had such beautiful dreams about flying and falling before and now nuthing....

try basejumping pr2
