josh davis flash trick

hey all. I saw Josh Davis at SXSW 2 years ago and he showed us a trick where he was able to break up a vector illustration and automatically convert each broken "piece" into an MC and give each an instance name without having to name each one manually. Anyone know the trick or have a link to the lecture notes.. I cant find them? Thanks

well you can do that with Powerpoint of all programs, so that all is vectorized for use in Flash. Export out as .wmf format, must be a similar trick in Illy or other vector-based programs for use in Flash. Actually I was wondering the same thing today.

upgroup your AI illustration...select all, and set each pieces alpha to 99%, export as .swf...import to library in flash, which rips in seperately as symbols...change them to MCs....

I'm pretty sure he had the source as a download before. It was all done in AS in this example. I may have it somewhere but I'll have to look.
