look on the web for sites publishing free hot spots. you just might find a few that are where you need that are free.
Otherwise, start wardriving son.

vulcanism? wardriving?
my head hurts

wardriving = drive with your laptop to find open networks
- jpea0
when i moved into the twin cities last fall i had 3 neighbors that all had their networks wide open. i just used their network from my apartment.

Screw Starbucks/TMobile. I guess Starbucks is not making enough $$ on their $6.00 cups of coffee.
Panera (http://www.panera.com) is a coffee house/bakery chain that offers internet access for free.

Panera rocks, I eat and drink it almost everyday, great food

i've been pilfering someone's connection at my new apartment...its great.
you can aslo buy little keychains now that will tell you if there is a wifi connection in your immediate area.

If you're gonna wardrive, you want KisMAC.

Super easy to use. And if you've got a USB GPS unit, it'll map out the wi-fi networks it finds.

awesome.....i love the stumbler.
it's a nice day for a drive.

i have to agree, tmobile's deal is just way too damned expensive. They should at least give a deal to cell subscribers. I'd probably pay 4 - 7 a month for it as a tmobile customer, but otehrwise, a bit of wardriving can get you plenty.

I pay like £100/yr for about 500k connection thru SurfnSip in UK (mainly Caffe Nero who at least hgave decent coffee)...what does it cost for yr/mth in US? (T-Mobile seems more expensive?)
- jpea0
thing is, that usually where there's a tmobile hotspot, there's a free network very close by as well... hell, if you're in an area with a starbucks, there are usually businesses nearby with open wireless.
i wouldn't i guess, unless you had a specific place in mind where you want to work and there's no spot available yet.
