Anyone know the file you have to delete on PC when Photoshop won't load - its a preference file I think.

i've never heard of that happening on pc... i'd say just reinstall. the only thing you'll lose is your tool settings, palette locations, and recent file list. no biggie. deleting a preference file to get a program to load sounds like something you'd do a mac

A reinstall won't work - I don't think it overwrites this particular file - I've done this like 3 times in the past - just can't remember the location of the file.

well, most of the main preferences will be in here...
C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME_GOES_HER... Data\Adobe\Photoshop\8.0\Adobe Photoshop CS Settings\
that's if you have Photoshop CS. if you have an earlier version, it will be in relatively the same place, but the version number will be 7. the file is probably in there somewhere.

Good call - it was the folder Application Data that I was looking for.
As soon as I deleted the prefs it started right up.

when i got win xp.. it happened with ps7 as well... a system restore fixed that problem... i've since moved on to ps cs.
