flash 7, loadVariables, wont work?!
been doing a site in flash 6, but need to export it as 7 now as it is including video. but i can't get it to load variables from a php file when i export it as flash 7!
loadVariables("http://www.jynk.n... this, "GET");
i know they have changed something but cant get my head around it. Can i still load php when i publish/test in flash, or do i have to upload it all the time? can't get it to work at all though.

on the Publish setting set Actionscript to 1.0

try using the loadVars object instead.
myVars = new LoadVars();
myVars.onLoad = function(sucess){
if(sucess){
textBox.text = this;
} else {
textBox.text = "error";
}
},myVars.load("ad_projects.php");
//remember, a lot of security has been implemented in the new flash player, making it more dificult to acess external [other servers] files. so I suppose your php file rests in your own server.

sescurity aint the word if the designers can't use it. i'm gonna try that first thing tomorrow. Many thanks.
ps. is that on one frame, or on a M.clip

no luck. i got it to load the stuff into the textbox, but how do i load it into the movieclip? also its turned '_' into '%5F' !! wwhy can't i just use the normal method. this really sucks and is adding massive delays to the job. effin macromedia.

bbecause it's better, and variables are copintaned within one object.
I used the textBox as an example. Write something like myMC.var= this.var;
Your text comes urlencoded. Use the unescape method.

cheers. i've got it sorted now. I was just trying to stick to loadvariables() because the whole prject file was built to handle it that way. Just finished redoing everything and got it working. It does seem a better way now i understand it more. Cheers for the pointers.
