mum's a nurse, dad works in pharmaceuticals *insert drug dealer joke here*. Dad was into photography and drawing and was quite good but had to give it up to pay the bills. Mum's brother was a graphic designer and is now a painter.
i reckon a lot of it is down to opportunity - i mean my parents didn't really have the luxury of doing something arty, they just had to get jobs to try and help their parents out and make a better life for their kids. i feel very lucky.

My parents aint creative, but my dad was a compositor[letterpress] at a newspaper for 30 years, so he understands the craft, so I might have developed this from him?!
LOL save I get asked that sort of question "You know about computers, don't you?"

my parents try to understand what I do.
although they do get a little concerned because I don't put on a suit to go and show my portfolio to someone.
"You can't where that to an interview"
and my dad is a little pissed of that I still work for little or no money.

my great grandfather was an architect in Southern Germany/Austria. I think I get it from him, because no one else in my family is creative whatsoever.

father was an instructor in the army after that he worked for Ford™, a bit too technical for my likings. mumsie runs a flowershop.
my grandfather was an engineer but with an eye for esthetics. he build some really cool bridges. characterwise i resemble a lot like him too.

both my parents went to art school. neither of them are "artists", per-se, but they are very creative...

my father was a painter and my mother is a poet, whereas I'm a "commercial artist"

mom: teacher
dad: civil enigneer
so they really dont get it....

Mother=interior design
Father=architecture/civil engineeringI guess I had both serious & creative influences. Technically, I don't consider myself an artist anyway.

I think it's more Parental encouragement. They see what you enjoy and excel at, then encourage it.

I'm the black sheep of the family.
