in offset jobs, spot color tints are printed using separate plates - correct ? or no ?

tint as in less opaque, it's done with halftone screens.
so no, it's the same plate.

yeah, a percentage of your spot.....can you explain how you use one plate to do that....can't find any good links that explain

i should clarify
i mean if you have a spot - solid - at 100% tint, and elsewhere in the print you have it set at say, 35%
you will need two separations and plates even tho it is the same spot, is what i was thinking

Just one film/plate.

correct, build.
like you print only black. you don't need new films for each 10%, 13%, 96%, 43%, 76%, 29%, 25%, 65% black.
