So I'm finally going to break down and buy one. Is this a good time to get an iPod? Or is there a new model coming out I should wait for? Also, what's the best place to buy it from? Thanks!

I would wait until after the WWDC on the 28th of June. Mr.Jobs might be introducing a little more than OSX 10.4
As for where to buy, i guess you could pick up some decent secondhands, for a new one they're about the same price everywhere (as far as i can tell)

I would NOT go with a second hand as the battery might have to be replaced. Wait a month, there will be 60 G (who needs that much? I do) pod out. Also check Airport Express. Great for DJs.

Wait until after Macworld if you can they're supposed to bump the HD to 60 Gig's, which means the 40G model becomes the middle ground and will drop significantly in price. And that means refurb models will drop even more in price. Buy it from the Apple store if you can get a student discount, otherwise, buy it from a place offering freebies and not charging shipping or tax. Any mail order place is fine, but NOT MacMall, they suck (Customer Service is worst EVER)!!!!

i would guess the new line up will be 60, 30, 20...toshiba does not make a single 1.8 platter 40, and i would suspect apple would want keep the current smaller depth of the 15 & 20 models....

I am willing to bet that the ipods connect to Airport Extreme... meaning you can play your tunes wirelessly to any stereo... You saw it here first folks.

If you know anyone in the military or that has access to an air force base...I saw the 20G model for $389, no tax. That's the cheapest price for a new one i've found.

but can't you plug your iPod into your stereo just the same as your airport extreme?
