We are having mucho problems running quark in OSX. I have to use OS9 running quark 4. Please tell me there is a way to use quark in OSX or at least an easy way use indesign with quark files.

Indesign should have no problem opening Quark Files

even if ID does do something a little funky opening quark files, just fix it so you have everything in ID. quark is so done with.

thats what I thought. thanks. Some of the printers we use are still stuck in quark.
So you guys just import quark files in ID? Can you export in quark without any problems?

Quark better smarten up!
I am running a legal copy of V6 that i got from work- and the thing decides to not let me open it anymore after 6 months of usage!
and offers no explanation why!
shotty programming i say!Somebody please develop a program superior to Quark! please!

what's worse is that you drop 300 on the upgrade and there is no manual. and i'll bet if they tried real hard, they could make the registrations codes even longer.

If it quits after 6 months, it's the demo version, not the full one. Make sure whoever does the purchasing at work to get the full one. I hate Quark too, but I don't like InDesign too much either.

The next version of Quark will have a built in .NET like architecture for all activation purposes. There will probably no way to get around it.

I haven't spent that much time with it Q6 because its so different. I dont feel like learning a new program that most designers hate.
I have problems opening quark4 files and I also have problems printing to an epson inkjet and making PDFs. All with quark 4 files. Grrr. I get frustrated and I let the intern do it on the OS9 machine.

Thanks for the help yall. This is taking way too much of my time. Im gonna try to work in IDcs and convert all the Q4 files over to ID.
err,

Yeah Q6 is a pain, and I can't get any linked or embedded EPS images to print from my inkjet or PDF either, think it has to do with the lack of PPD in OS X. I don't have the CS at home, only PS CS, so I've been using Freehand to layout stuff lately and it's not that bad and I can PDF and print stuff fine.
If you convert the Q4 files to ID make sure to save the originals as ID will only export Q5.
