Saving the whales is sooo 1984.
Are you trying to present the information in terms of qualitative data representing species, population, area, depth, decibal levels, areas of heave boat activity? A map would work best. Is there a target area you are focusing on? Check out Edward's Tufte's site and books, he's the mast of that shit. And the 80's are officially dead too, so move on. We're trying to save the tigers in 2004 here.

thanks John for your suggestions.
there's no target area i'm focusing on, and i'm not trying to just get my message across graphicly. i'm working on a campain which should inform people about the relatively new problem of noise pollution (in whatever way i feel is apropriate). most of my ideas i've presented to my creative directors were not satisfying because i didn't get "NOISE" across well enough.
I'm really struggling with getting "noise" across on print without being too obvious or corny. :/
