Can anyone tell me abouit the certificate of foreign status you have to fill in to avoid paying fedral tax when taking on a commission from the USA?
Possibly called a W-8 form
Who do I give it to? The client or the Inland Revenue
I'm sure there are lots of you out there from Europe that have worked for US clients

i did a couple of design jobs for us based companies and i actually never had to fill in any form regarding taxes (did the work in holland btw). according to the dutch irs i didn't need to charge taxes (0% rate). the us clients never asked for filling out a form as well.
