i just got back from vacation and took some photos with my digi cam, and some with regular 35mm. i'm looking for a quality lab to automatically convert my 35mm photos to cd to save me the scanning.
i haven't done this in ages, and last time i used walmart and got crappy 1028x768ish resolution images. i want higher quality so that i can make prints from the digital images if i really wanted.
any recommendations of places to go? i'm in the bay area.

just found out that costco has this deal:
$.29 per image for 1.5mb quality
$.79 per image for 6.5mb qualitythat seems like a lot of cash!

That's fairly cheap :) You're going from negative film to digital right? That's one sucky process which does take time. I actually find it easier to get 5x7 prints made and I scan them on a kick-ass flatbed. Depends how high a resolution you want though.

if i was doing this for fine art, i might do it differently. but this is for vacation photos. i have at least 300 or so images on 35mm.

just called walmart... they said the highest quality they have is 1500ishx1024. not even the regular 1600x1200 base.
i think costco is where i'm headed.

Sam's does it cheapest with good quality. 7.50 for 4x6 Matte doubles and 2.50 per roll for CD.

OMG dont scan prints.
You should also see what it costs for Kodak PhotoCD format or something similar(probably have to send away)... Kodak PhotoCD uses their own format to store multiple resolutions in a single file... probably the best quality out there...
