we've been getting pounded here in dallas too. my power was out part of tues and wed. thank goodness for laptops and beer

i've always thought it would be a good idea to have some sort of reserve battery on a towers incase of power cuts. I bet apple do it .

You can buy surge protector / generators that are about half the size of a CPU. They give 10 - 15 min. of power so you can save up and shut down. used to have one in the old office.

see i was a bit lucky, sitting at the old monk with a friend 'avin a pint when all of a sudden, lights go out. looking outside, you coudn't see anything but lightning sawing off random tree branches. (which later made for a nice game of 'dodge the log in the road'). but inside, it was nice and warm - we had candles and pints and a doorman that looked like moby. daft, eh?
