Anyone got any idea how you can exclude element on a page from being printed?

not sure what you mean... but if you mean trim lines on a die cut, or guides for a printer you don't want to print, make a spot colour and call it 'DON'T PRINT THIS', aslo send a b&w proof with the form/line marked clearly...
