Just to make sure I'm not going insane, a PDF is good to use for print right? I've got a printer telling me he is trying to open up my file in illustrator and it gets messed up. I told him, 'well I send you PDF's so that you don't have to open it up'. I did a preflight check in InDesign and everything was fine.

Yes we try to keep strictly to them here. Be careful with color management and the compression of pictures though. And use distiller to PDF it not some third party knock off PDFer.

yeah I exported from InDesign, is distilling by using the 'print' option the best way to go about it? I think they're the same.
I swear this printer is getting fired now, this is th last job he delays because he wants me to do things differently. I swear I've had more problems with this guy. When I told him that he can prin straight from the PDF he said, 'are you sure'. I should have said, 'yes I'm sure you are an idiot with a heidelberg'.

Usually you should trust your printer, but with that q about 'you can print from a pdf' wow. Find someone else.

Sometimes printers need a Quark or ID file to Rip to film. BUT, he could just place it in ID and do that anyway. He;s wack
