Well yes, but something has to replace the trucker hat, even if it was short-lived.
Personally, I think the mullet is more of a sociological cornerstone than it is a fashion trend. With all the mullet rating/fanclub/definition websites out there, mullets are not really all that new.
I still vote for the mustache...definitely coming on strong in late '04.
