I'm having one of those mindless discussions with a program manager at work about "useful flash" - u know the kind where you hear phrases like "Flash is just an animation tool", "Isn't Flash just for graphics", etc.
Throw some links my way of effective uses of Flash as sophisticated applications or heavy data-driven sites, interactive mapping etc. so I can prove to this doofus that he's living in the 90s.

there are millions of examples...
But one that comes to mind is www.fredperry.com which has an excellent Flash based store.

This is one of the best examples of something I've seen but it was only useful when the race was live... live tracking of the yachts.
This was how it worked...
http://rolexsydneyhobart.com/yac…The flash piece is still available here but non functional as the race is over...

This will win your argument.

Surely that link should win me something.

I came across this one which looks like a unique use of Flash but 'can't connect to server' when trying to select camera angles.

Sounds like you're the one that's lost if you can't answer those questions or support that Flash it's not only an animation tool.

Every Major League Baseball team uses data-driven Flash for "Gameday," a real-time pitch-by-pitch scoreboard for every game.

Thanks for all your helpful input YourClient!
I'm after examples - there may be a tiny tiny chance that I havn't seen every single Flash site on the net that uses data integration *gasp* :)

Not sure how much of this is static but a good use of Flash anyway.

all cms-afied and cold fusion driven.

Hey Mick, even if you had a working site, you cannot see what's going on behind the face of the site, I was thinking more that you have the business kind of open mind to explain and sell your point to just about anybody else, including a fellow worker as if you're doing a client too.
