So im in school for design and am currently working in a print shop to pay for it. I was thinking about staying in the printing side of the design world but are there any down sides to being a printer in the future? Or is it just better to be a designer?

well a designer with a solid printing experience is a lot better than just a designer. there are a lot of tricks and trades in the printing process which not many designers know.

get some experience like anything else in your life.. if it makes you happy, better, and if later you'll realize that are other things you'll love to experiment and do.. follow your heart..

As A Former Baltimoron myself I agree with all those above. Do what you love, if you love money, go become a investment banker, if you love design, be a designer.

doing both will make you more valuable, a printer who understands design or vice versa is an asset to any company.

Grew up in tha hood, highschool as well. Went back after college for a year, moved to DC, in the process of moving back soon I hope.
