calgary is only 1 hr away from the mountains, and has tons of parks, trails (bike/hike) and greenspace. not bad for outdoorsy type stuff.
theres some nice stuff coming out of here design wise as well, but not really a "hotspot".

Without question BC is the place for you. I'm an out-doorsey kindof guy and I nearly had a nervous breakdown in Toronto. Vancouver has so much to offer as a city. I'd try and get a job before you move though... just for safety's sake.

Ottawa has some of the best work coming out of Canada, especially in print, some of my fav studios..

www.pixelvoodoo.netI heard Calgary is also booming..
But Toronto is pretty much the hotspot of the country when it come to jobs in the design world.
Don't forget to look around in the maritimes =) Halifax...

I'm not sure about the job market though.. seems to be a ton of people looking for work.. we get resume's like crazy..

Fernie, BC is also a nice place, but I think it's closer to Calgary than Vancouver... so if you're into snowboarding and you end up working in Calgary then remember that Fernie is just a couple of hours away.
