semi-dead mac firewire HD

    i have a 4-5 year old western digital firewire drive for my mac. the green light comes on, but the disk is not spinning. no sign of it on the desktop or in system profile. what should be my next step? have someone at the shop look at it? data recovery? most of my work is on there and i forgot to backup that mother. i'm not looking to rescue it right away, but will. let me hear about your experiences. thanks,
