If you mingle with designers and within designer communities you'll never get ahead or be successful at what you do, stay the heck away from fanaticism and network with clients, and everything will be fine.

in case you stopped checking the other thread...
I actually agree w/ you MACASO. just being a smrtass .hah.a
Networking is the way to go. its hard to sell design to a designer. you have to convince the uninformed that your services are essential to the success of their business. that design, strategy, concepts, etc. are valuable and corporations to small businesses need to realise or they lose. word.

quite true

Maybe if you're trying to build your own business... in the agency world, it's all about who you know and who knows your work. In my experience if the directors or producers hear other people(designers) talking about you and your work you've got a huge leg-up.
- MACAS00
Not really, if you attend a business meeting with regular clients (business owners) you're bound to get more popular than if you hang out with superstar designers, cuz at the end they'll get the jobs, they're the ones with the clients as friends, get it now?
- BonSeff0
There is no way i would bounce ideas off clients. i trust ya'lls opinion mo betta
- MACAS00
Bonseff, stop thinking like a chorizo for a moment.
- BonSeff0
so where do all the clients hang out anyway? sportsbars?
- Mimio0
Clients don't tell you about job opportunities and vacancies like other designers or ADs do. That's what I'm getting at. Also, If you've got access to the client and are leading the projects for them, you've already proven yourself at that level.

and what qualifies you to be giving advice - what kind of "experience" do you have? sounds more like you're pissed one of your design buddies won a bid and not you...
- BonSeff0
