Can a Mac using airport easily connect to a wireless PC network?
- rasko40
yes so long as the wireless uses the same protocal as airport which is called •••••••••?
- jox0
right... 802-something.
But, would I need the airport extreme card AND the base station? Or can I just connect to the existing wireless (pc) router?
- rasko40
yeah you can use the router if its the same protocol thingy, you dont need the base station.

You should be able to connect to a pc wireless network.
airport is the same as 802.11b
airport extreme is the same as 802.11g but also supports 802.11b
so as long as the pc base station supports the same standard/s as your airport card then it should work

only problem i had was if my router/base uses WEP and then I go to a different base i can't connect until i get the WEP key.
So I run my setup at home WEPless..safe eh?
