I am launching a site tomorrow and cutting it fine domain-hosting-wise. I warned our host on monday I would be using .php and they have set it up on a Windows server – they are denying receiving the email even though 6 others sent to the same address have been replied to. They are trying to change it back to a Unix server as I speak but have said they will bill for this 'extra work'.
any advice other than 'atomic-wedgie a written confession out of him'.

did you get an e-mail where it was clear that they support php?

and they should let you know what the extra costs are beforehand. they can't just change shit and sent you a bill for it. would be like getting your car washed and ending up with a v12 engine (incl. bill). if it's too much you can easily change provider.

yeah, the whole thing's been a bit like getting fleeced by a mechanic actually. I aint footing the bill anyway. I actually just got an email from them (after I forwarded my initial email warning about .php, as proof) and their attitude seems to have changed somewhat. My atomic wedgie threat seems to have worked.
