I've been a fan of indesign for a while so I never really picked up quark xpress, but due to client request everything has to be made in it. This means speed-learning for me... So I go out and buy myself a copy of it (used one, even) v.5.0. Installation runs smoothly, it loads up nicely but riiight before it launches a box pop up saying "The system's regional settings are incompatible with this version of quark"
What does that mean? The REGIONAL settings? Something to do with my geographical location?

ugh, i have heard nothing but bad about quark... why do people still insist on using it? wish i could help you out jox...

Yeah that's what I heard too, but talking into clients whats best for them isn't popular in my experience : / Wish I could though.
Anybody knows? This means big trouble for me :(

if you use a PC [Mac should be similar] you can go the control panel and change the keyboard to english temporarly to see if it works [or change the regional settings to US standards]...

anyways, at least you are not in my boat, my boss wants me to create a brochure with color et all for our department, but i only can use ms word and paint cause i my job is not one of graphic designer and i only have 5 gigs of space on this computer. he just asked me to do it because my schooling is in graphic design.

roflmao at the ms paint/word. And quark has it's place. It works nearly flawlessly, and swiftly in its duties. Beats the hell out of the sad saps using Adobe Pagemaker still (had to fuss with one today, and no its not an ignorance of software issue).
