Does it matter if you use 300dpi images on the web. Are they viewed the same as 72dpi.
- drbyers0
yes. but the file will be HUGE! scale it down in photoshop first to 72 dpi...

yeah it does matter. your filesize will be waaaaay bigger. everything you see at your screen is 72 dpi regardless of the resolution of the source.

dang! tooooo late. again! fuck! :)

dpi values dont matter on the web, it is a better practice to use 72 or 96, but as long as the pixedls width and height are stated it shouldnt matter.

fcuk dpi. it won't nescessarily be huge.
if PS says it is 450x300px (pixels!!) it will always be 450x300px regardless the dpi value.

which is true. i once downloaded an image which was alotta pixels but at 1 dpi.

So as long as it's greater than 72dpi it'll be fine?
Is there any way in Photshop to reduce the dpi but not the physical size.
e.g The image is 300dpi 2079x1239, when it's reduced to 72dpi it's
499x297.

go to image size in PS and make sure have Constrain proportions ticked(not thew one below it) a bbar locking all three should appear next width hieght and res - now change res to 72.
