I am sick and tired of webdevelopers bitching about sites not made xhtml strict! Every time people post sites, these developers starts whining about their code and why they should learn proper css before selling a website to a customer.
And every time they post some of their own stuff, it's fucking horrible stuff! They can't design, but because they're good at scripting and CSS, they think they have the right to slag off any good design that uses tables...
I understand the importance of a valid xhtml document, and a good stylesheet, but it takes forever to make! My customers are satisfied with me using tables, so I will continue using them for everything BUT tabular data!

"so I will continue using them for everything BUT tabular data!" so you uise div's for tabular data? now that's hard.
anyway, in some cases i moved back to using tables as well again, since Win IE is a pain in the arse when it comes down to positioning and padding div's.
so i have to agree partly with you yes.

Yeah, I agree. As long as you consider the xhtml and css, and apply it as you feel best for the project and do your best and the end product does well, that should be all that matters.

I agree up to a point.

Can't Stand those geeks, Sheesh!
99% of the sites made by CSS geeks look just the same.

i agreee to a point at well. there is nothing wrong with using tables cause sometimes you jujst have to to get cross browser compatabilty, but still proper and clean css should be used for the majority of your work.

anyone that says it takes longer to design a site using standards compliant code hasn't take the time to learn it. when people complain that a site isn't using proper markup they're only talking about the code, not the design. Of course, the first time you try to use a new technology, it'll take longer. Was your first flash site built as fast as your most recent?

It's just a matter of your own professionalism as a designer. Use what suits the project, be it divs or tables. Doesn't really matter whether its valid or not as far as visual appearance goes.
The only reason "it takes forever to make" for you is that you're clearly not as familiar with the "new" way as you are with tables and font tags. You should learn both equally well. These things are constantly being updated and improved so if you aren't even trying to be a little bit involved in the business you're working in, you're gonna be left behind.

Yay, everyone is right.
It's Sunday afternoon; bitching about standards compliance is a task for Monday morning, no?
