any comments of site ur forced to register first on? too much effort, a gamble (most likely a waste of time) or only to place dirty ad cookies on ur pc???
or do u think they are a good way to drive traffic?

I work for a number of newspapers and magazines, we have one site that you need to register on to get any articles. we started registration about a year ago. Before that it was a free for all. Our traffic is finally starting to come back to levels we had a year ago, but now we have 2500 registered users that our advertising department uses to sell to clients.

if we were real shady, we could sell the addresses to spammers, but we arent going to do that. It is amazing how truthful many of these people were on their registrations.
