Just need to figure out whats the best way to go about making fonts....
Fontographer? Fontlab? etc.
Any other options you guys know of?
thanks.

Fontographer does the trick, but I've never used Fontlab so I couldn't compare the two. It's sweet to have Fontographer though for font-tweaking and cross-platform conversions.

don't know of any demos... don't even know if they're still making updated versions. I got Fontographer 4.1.4 in like 2000.
Mac or PC?

As it sounds like you are just getting started with type design:
Fontlab is a really powerful program, if you don't plan on using hinting, classes, components, scripting, etc. You might want to start out with TypeTool (made by the same company as Fontlab). It's basically a scaled back version of Fontlab, which might be better to get started with.
