I’m writing an essay on old propaganda movies, and I need some help. If anyone has got some ideas or links with information id really appreciate it! The information should be related to communism, I’ve got some old movies but I can’t find any thing else basicly.
I'm in a hurry!

Are you looking at political or social propaganda. If its in college I reckon most other people will go down the political propaganda route - starting with Metroplois and going from there. I would look into the old fifties US sci-fi movies that were effectively propagandist scare stories to affect the 'morality of youth'. and then move into the sphere of 'reefer madness' style movies. mI'd also look heavily into the sociology of propaganda and ideology and then i'd........... ah you'll be fine.......

So basically you are talking about old Soviet films. In which case you're going to want to look at the most famuos example - Eisensteins Battleship Potemkin.
Of particular interest to you would be Soviet film makers use of juxtaposition. They're film making principle was that editiing was as important a process as directing. The use of two different shots cut into each other to evoke a particular emotion. The most important book written on the subject was Film Technique And Film Acting by V I Pudovkin.

Battleship Potemkin
October
Alexander Nevsky
Storm Over Asia
The End Of St Petersburg
The Extraordinary Adventures of Mr. West in the Land of the Bolsheviksand there's loads more.
