i have two hard drives. one with win ME and one with win XP. the computer is set up to boot ME, and I'm trying to add the XP drive. How do i boot up on the XP drive?

Flag the ME invisible in BIOS, there's a function for it somewhere in there.
But... why? Why even bother with ME? That's like asking for a crash.
- jakeyj0
why? the computers on loan from my sis and she wants to keep it ME when i give it back after i purchase a G5.

I was expecting so much more from this thread.
- jox0
Oh, well in that case you can just take the ME drive outta there. (physically) Unless, of course, you need stuff from it.
- jakeyj0
it gives me some message about something missing and won't boot

Take out the disk, remember how the cables were attached to the ME disk - attach them just like that to the new XP disc and there you go.
If that doesn't work, it seems like you installed another disk when the ME one was already in there, so it's a conflict thing with the XP disk (thinking it's just a slave since it was given that title because there were two of them). Check the bios again, make it ze mastah if its not.

um yeah, thanks - but how do i do that?
- jox0
there's a list of all disks, everything from floppys to the cd. And somewhere in that list, your XP disk should appear with what it's called (ie. if it's an IBM disk, it should say IBM something)
and there's a right column next to it which explaining its assigned title. And you can click / press it and change it (not sure if your mouse is enabled in dos mode, if its not just use the keyboard)

(and if you don't know how to enter bios, just press DEL - it promts you on startup so you know when)
- jakeyj0
to get into bios i hold del when i reboot?
- jox0
it prompts you upon startup (right after it's been counting memory), it should say "Press DEL to enter BIOS" or something along the lines with that.
- jox0
...but DON'T fiddle around too much in there if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
- jakeyj0
thanks for the help. i'll give it a shot

Fuck it. I thought this thread was about sadomasochism. Really dissapointing. *walks away mumbling*

try holding delete down for a bit, and / or f12 in the same fashion if that doesn't work
- jakeyj0
no luck with the f12 thing. any other suggestions?
- jakeyj0
