Doug Bowman Comments on the New Blogger. What do you think?
Highlights - CSS standards compliant design, zeldman, bowman, and friends designing templates, and new UI that's simple as can be.

ouch.....
that redesign didn't go over well
- ldww0
eh. soso.
what did it look like before?

old Blogger.com

The Blog post/edit section was much better on the old blogger.

icons are so big and other things aren't proportionate

i can't stand this bullshit standards compliant "look". those rounded corners, big goofy icons, shadow/gradients. YUCK. looks like it was designed for a children's textbook.
the old blogger looked way better.
give me simplicity and modern lines. hard edges and no fluff.

Regardless of what you think - this new redesign means that a hefty chunk of the web (there are a fuckload of 'bloggers' out there) is now using standards-compliant code - and that can only be a good, good thing.
I do hear what some poeple are saying about the CSS/XHTML 'look' though...there does seem to be a trend - especially in those new templates...
"Now you too can look like Zeldman.com!"
(in a non-sarcastic way!)

And you need to remember bloggers target audience - mainly non-web designer/programmers who can't use more techy stuff like moveable type. Mothers and teens use it - and the old Blooger was a friggin nightmare to use and set-up if you weren't that familiar with things like FTP etc...

exactly jevad.
it's not my cup of tea either, but i think my neighbours would love it.
- Neuarmy0
i like it...

I'm loving the new Blogger and the Minima template. Looking just like I wanted once I've customized it. Tee hee!

i dig the reboot. it's much more than a redesign - re-architected too.
it is soo simple! I got this one up in less than 10 minutes:
http://small-fish.com/ryani've played with MovableType in the past. It took a couple hours to get it looking like anything decent, and to get MT and my server to get along.
MT is certainly more customizable, but blogger is so easy.

Holy shit. I can hear the echos of...; "Can we have the logo bigger?"
