I recently read that they fired the entire staff at TechTV. Also read that they're shutting down the SF opperation and moving it to LA?
Anyone hear about this? WTF?

yeah.. you can find that on Leo's blog..
basically.. they (comcast) decided to consolidate..
they are moving techTV to the G4 channel's studio.. since a lot of the stuff G4 does.. doesn't require a lot of G4's studios..
he said he wasn't sure if they were going to keep the hosts.. however.. they were laying off a LOT of the camera crews/set crews.. etc..

at least they get 60 days notice and it's not like.. blam.. yer screwed.. wish i had that kinda golden parachute last year..

Word has it there going to combine the two channels and just call it G4TV. Which is retarded, because TechTV is much more descriptive and catchy.
G4 has some stupid shows too. I mean, the shows they have are for the HARDCORE gaming dorks that rarely shower and are over 6ft tall and infinitely clumsy.
At least they aren't getting rid of the Screensavers or XPlay. Morgan Webb rocks my socks! And the screensavers is just a great show!

Nothing wrong with 6'+ and clumsy.
I'm glad to hear they're keeping a couple of their shows. I'd heard that the G4 shows were pretty bad.
I was pretty surprised about the big layoff, as they seem to have a pretty damned nice studio in SF, and the current onscreen staff seems to do a good job.
Was bad enough to see Leo go.
I guess it sucks to hear of any massive layoff though.

There's just so many things wrong with their channel. Like, what the hell is that girl in the dress with the giant dog paw on their website??
