One of them is a mathematician and a classical pianist; the other was an architect before becoming AIR which is where the band name originates. would love to see them live someday. their background explains their musical style.

brilliant live tho.
saw them in toronto just last month.
on mushrooms.
the set was a nicely meshed combo of the old and the new.
no complaints here.

hype list?

what kind of hype list are you working with hero?

The electrobeats and vocoded vocal loops are at a minimum on Talkie Walkie. Each track seems to have a different story or emotion behind it, unlike Moon Safari where everything blends together after the first few songs.
What's missing is the catchy phrase (ie. Sexy Boy over and over) and bouncy grooves. It's a bit of a risk and takes some listening, but I don't think they've gotten formulaic at all.

Depeche Mode's Violator.
forget everything else.

totally agree with the original post.
it is an OK album, but not their best work.it seems that they've fallen into a trap that a lot of bands do after a few albums and rather than evolving they creat their music with an equation.
electo beat + vocoded voice (with same phrase repeated over and over) + X + Y + Z = song
im not knockin it too much, its still a decent album.

i dont care air - rocks i have all their stuff even purchased the odd cd twice (the same on - moonie stuffi)

yeah, that album is nutty, my favorite. the virgin suicides album is absolutely incredible in my opinion, when i heard it i couldn't believe that it was something from this era, it has such a seedy 70s feel to it.. shit dope.

i wish that they could approach something with the same open-mindedness of the singles that are on premiere symtomes.
if anything, air are just immitating their own music and making stuff that digresses with every new album.
i thought 10000hertz Legend was really unique and shocking all the way through, but critics weren't into it. whatever.

heard them talking a bit about the new album and it's alot diifferent from their earlier stuff that's its more personal, more about love in their own lives, etc. rather than the "sexy boy" and the like.
i think the newer stuff is alot more accessable and would grab the Zero 7 crowd and that kind of thing.. i personally like their older stuff more, but i think the new album is still really damn solid.

everything air puts out is, musically, perfectly crafted. they seem like design-minded musicians while most bands (even the ones music critics love) seem like they are just kind of going with whatever musical style is currently popular.

At first I didn't like Talkie Walkie as much as the songs on Moon Safari, but after listening to it more, I really like it. If you know a little bit about the guys, you'd understand why they make this form of music.

weird,
my girlfriend really likes the early stuff, but it felt to kitsch for me.
now she's got the new one and isn't really into it.
.. but i've been rocking it constantly.
go figure.

i guess im a little wary of french musicians, unless it's medieval, associated with Gong or Daft Punk,
or straight up early Air or La Funk Mob
