Ive been using flash for 5 years now and I still cant work out how the fuck you get flash colours to fit seamlessly with neighbouring gifs and jpegs. Some colours seem to work, others are slightly off, then you change the monitors colour to 24 bit instead of 16 bit and you find its completely the opposite - the colours that worked before are now off.
Show me the way someone

Someone knows...
Maybe I didnt explain myself well enough - Its when you put an swf next to a gif and they should theoretically be seamless same because they have the same colour values but they dont look the same ! they are slightly different colours.

Id love to know also. I think it might have to do with the fact that flash jpg's an image, even if its a gif in the movie, and jpeg compession can alter the color

can't help but i've seen similar problems and a far better solution seems to be to have the flash file with a transparent background. someone told me that this only works on pcs. is this true?

flash's transparent bg does not work in safari...im not sure about other mac browsers

Nope, transparent BGs dont work on a mac, dodgy in mozzila and dont work at all in safari. Not worth it in my opinion.
Interesting what you say about different types of compression, I can see that causing problems, but even plain vector fills with the same hex value as a gif inserted directly in the HTML page will come out different, surely that cant be a compression thing?
