From my local news:
"A 13-year-old boy convicted for striking back after being bullied by a classmate received a sentence of 90 days probation and must pay $332 in restitution to his victim.
Daryl Gray must also complete four counseling sessions over an 8-week time period, attend a mentoring program, and do community service....."
"Gray was convicted on charges of aggravated battery last month for stabbing a fellow student in the face with a pencil."
Gray's mother and teacher testified that despite changing classes at Pointe South Middle School, the problems that plagued Daryl haven’t stopped.
Defense attorneys claimed Gray was hit, called gay and even had his shoes urinated on in the school restroom for two years. Last March, Gray, who had not been in trouble before, struck another boy in the face with a pencil. The boy was seriously injured and has been left permanently scarred."
So....a kid gets bullied for two years...gets fed up with it and fights back (albeit, the stabbing w/the pencil may have been extreme) and he gets punished. So now it's okay to be a bully and not okay to fight back?
Amazing.

world gone mad - but there's a fine line between smacking a bully down and shoving a pencil through his face....

As george bush said about the soldiers who tortured iraqies:
"This is not the America I know"

i would have stabbed the kid with a soldering iron.
- tfsmag0
dude, he stabbed him in the face! he coulda killed him doing that. that's why he got in trouble. had he punched/kicked homeboy in the junk, or just resorted to an old fashioned bitchslap it probably wouldn't be an issue.

Wanker. Better ways of dealing with bullies and the like. Kid needed some councelling to begin with i'm quite certain.
- k0na_an0k0
i teach all my younger cousins the arts of stabbing just in case situations like these ever arise. *i wonder if that was anyone i'm related to.

Tough luck for the bully, he's lucky it wasn't any worse. Psychological abuse over time can create a fierce monster.

that's profound.
America isn't the America we know either.
Bush finally says something intelligent.

if he was getting bullied for two years, obviously the other kid could kick his ass. I bet this kid doesnt get fucked with anymore...

I'm well aware that there's a difference between stabbing and punching...and I'm sure that's what got him found guilty.
HOWEVER...the stabbing hasn;'t changed a thing according to the news...this kid has been getting picked at even MORE since the story first aired.
All I know is if this kid has been bullied buy this older kid and his croonies for two years...that's a alot of pent up anger being unleashed...
Maybe better that it happens now than 15 years from know when he's sitting up on a Cell PHone tower in a tutu with a high powered rifle taking shots at Fed Ex Drivers

mess with the bull you get a pencil in your face.

I have a similar experience growing up.. I moved to a new school. This guy thought he could pick on me. First class of the year, he keeps leaning back his chair on my table. His head was like 5 inchs from my face. After 20 second of this, I kicked on the chair's leg, he falls down knocking his head againts my table, gets up, tried to stab me with his pencil, I tried to block it so it landed on my hand. I went nuts and wrestled him on the ground and pounded the fuck out of his face. Got suspended but came back as a superstar, never got fucked with again.
Here the 10 year old piece of led:

Sweet Meok! I have a piece of graphite in my hand too when some bitch in grade five jammed her pencil in my hand.

I have some in the side of my leg from some girl in the 5th grade...
Grade School Shrapnel.

Damn, meok. That's heavy. Next you're going to see kids come out of school, without an ear (or some type of permenant damage), saying that they got it in middle-school...
Isn't it ironic, that if you coop up chickens in too small a cage, they peck at eachother? However, kid's aren't chickens... Jeeesus...

this is the type of thing that happens when we have to much influence from the ACLU. I think the kid that did the stabbing should be paraded around on a float and applauded by the community for not putting up with bullshit. Our current judicial system protects the fuckin criminals and punishes those who are trying to protect themselves. Weak!

there's no excuse for taking a pencil and stabbing somebody in the face. damn lucky he got off with as little punishment as he did. you don't hear anybody talking about how sorry they feel for the kids that shot up columbine.
