can I just add to Unfit's list a classic Soviet film called Storm Over Asia
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obi…
prolly the greatest film i've seen, and pure Soviet propaganda (pretty much) - and add to that all the films Eisenstein made and u got a comprehensive list of propaganda masterpieces that everyone should see.

Kuz, that's a great film [altough I knew it with another name].
Since my teen's I became really obsessed with early XX century European cinematography: Lang, Murnau, Sjostrom, Eisentein, Dreyer, Pabst. Jean Vigo....
Moviemakers nowadays have a lot to learn from the 'old, old' school.

A boy hears stories of brave hunters and the tigers they kill at the end of every story and one day asks his grandfather.
"how come the tiger never gets away or eats the hunter?"
"when the tiger learns to write...you'll read those stories too."

I don't understand how the opinions on Moore's work are relevant.
Wether you like him, hate him, think he's right on, think he bends the truth... you know what's up, we're not idiots here. its not good

"...that guy is a lunatic that trumps up lies upon lies..." so what's the difference between michael moore and george bush?
- rabattski0
virtu: compared with europe american conservatives are extreme right and liberals are right. there's is no middle nor left in the states (again from an european point of view).

woody: like i said before if you're a vegetarian meateaters will hold the smallest detail against you, you have to be more right than wrong. that's what you doing with moore, because he bought a 3 mln dollar appartment from his own hardearned money he is a capitalist and thus a hypocrit? that is hypocrit!

It'll be screened in the UK regardless of legal disputes in the US. (Sorry if this has been linked before).

It's not the fact that he's a hypocrite that bothers me. I mean obviously we all are, and we are all fallible.
But...
My biggest issue with Moore, politicians, the media, etc ect ...is thier hidden agenda. What I mean is Michael Moore's hidden agenda is that he makes money on his movies and his views. certain views of his sell more than others, so it seems to me that he crafts an idea, an ideaology, a persona, that does not recieve the social critique that it deserves.
Though moore can be right on many things, he is often wrong, and grossly exaggerates and manipulates to prove his points, rather than relying on the facts at hand.
If Moore is a true commentator, than he deserves my critique. If he sells a certain amount of beliefs and values, than he should abide by them. if not than all he is doing is creating a very entertaining and thought provoking movie...rather than a didatic documentary.
Thanks for your comment.

Lwing, Rwing: "perhaps it's different in the EU because of the metric system and all, but im talking about america dude." (by virtu)
the word "dude" is really a killer here. nice touch for such an amount of blatant ignorance.
