I may have to do a booklet with folded 8.5*11 paper in inDesign by Friday. I don't really do much print besides logos, only web. I need to do this fast so does inDesign have basic templates for this sort of layout, what is the technique for having the pages ordered correctly after they are collated (I used to know it) and do you have any other tips?

Is this 11x17 folded and saddle stitch?
For the page to be in "order you need to get blank sheets and fold in half and number the pages and use this as your guide when you layout your page.
i.e for a 4 page it would layout page 4&1, 2&3

not sure if this will help but this resource will help lots of people with print templates..

Thanks, I was curious if in Design comes with templates. Otherwise whats the best way to set it up? Make the document 8.5*11, make a margin on it. What's the best way to seperate the 2 sides of content on the page?

1)Layout your spreads
2) Design each page of the spreads
3) Reorder the pages in the layout windowfrom reader spreads to printer spreads.

Sorry I was bumping for this question specifically:
"Otherwise whats the best way to set it up? Make the document 8.5*11, make a margin on it. What's the best way to seperate the 2 sides of content on the page?"
Also so this automates reordering the pages for print?
"Reorder the pages in the layout windowfrom reader spreads to printer spreads."

The printer will use a plug-in to reorder the postscript files. If you're doing it in house do what I said.(The manual way)

BTW, sorry to ask so many questions. Like I said I have really no time to do it.
It's for a really close friend of a friend who was murdered in the street this week and they wanted me to make a book of his life for the funeral. I am very nervous to even accept the responsibility as it would need to be done Friday (if they coordinate with me in time to do it) and if it didn't get done on time or it wasn't very good I would feel terrible.

That's so strange the same things happened to me last year My good friend died from brain cancer and my wife and I made his funeral card. Seriously, talk to the a few printers they may give you a discount or donate the job.
Happy to help.
