Yo Philly/NYC Designers (or anyone who wants to move to Philadelphia immediately) --
We have a rare opening for a full time e-commerce Design Lead here at urbanoutfitters.com.
We're developing a standalone e-commerce boutique for one of our women's apparel brands, and need someone to manage the design (and subsequent updating) of the whole thing.
This is a huge opportunity to participate in the creation of a new online retail site/brand. Plus you get to work with me :)
The position will require a fair amount of team participation. Candidates should have strong communication skills and experience working within a group (i.e. be flexible). Creation of the brand will be very much a collaborative cross-disciplinary process. A solid understanding of Women's retail fashion trends, apparel selling cycles, and designing to maximize product presentation will be very helpful.
While no code experience is required, it is important that candidates have experience designing for web, specifically e-commerce sites.
We're looking for a pretty specific "fit" visually, so it will also help if your work meshes well with the existing Urban Outfitters/Anthropologie aesthetic...
The Design Lead will:
1. Design the new site's user interface, and all pages (path to purchase, checkout sequence, help section, etc). Backend will be managed externally.
2. The site will have an online Catalog that is created from a pre-existing printed piece. Additional interactive content will be created to "extend" the story of the catalog on the website. As before, all coding of that piece will be performed externally.
3. Post launch, set the visual direction for all cyclical content (email blasts, promo buttons, etc.), and direct a Content Coordinator in the execution of those items.
4. Twice a year, manage a site redesign / graphic update.
5. Design/update a small amount of packaging and any other new printed media required by the direct business.
Qualified candidates should email me jpegs or a link to your online portfolio.
thanks to all - i look forward to hearing from you.
