can anyone recommend a brand or place to buy or a shop that'll convert my existing DVD player to an all region player?

I don't know if you guys are near Seattle, but Scarecrow Video sells Region Free DVD players for $110. It's nice and compact. I was checking their website but I don't see it listed. You could call them to find out the make and model, then search online maybe.

i got one of these really cheap apex players a few years ago and they worked great. you just have to update the firmware with one from their web site. they are really crappy looking and feel really cheap. i went through 3 units that didnt work right out of the box. so make sure you can return it.

Best thing to do is to visit dvdrhelp
http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhack…
go to the DVD Hacks section. There's a llong list of dvd players that are hackable. Most can be tweaked through the menu section. E.G. Bought my dvd player for 40pounds and I'm able to play disc from all regions, even the disks you're not supposed to ber able to play on region free dvd players work on my dvd player.
