  There is one called Samurize or something, it uses scripts and stuff, I dunno exactly how it works, but it sounds similar.

  Samurize and DesktopX by Stardock. These 2 are extremely famous and have a bunch of widgets and objects. There's another one called AveDesk and you wanna look at a cool little app called Rainlendar (this is extremely useful calendar desktop object with to do active list and so on). PC invented stuff like this, and only now things are catching up on Macs.
