PS 7 Color Settings

Why are all my colors turning out weird when converting to CMYK and saving a tif. I don't have adobe gamma and calibrated my monitor within the display settings. Could that be it? I'm using US Prepress Defaults, haven't changed anything except the for RGB (working spaces) I chose Samsung ICM Profile, otherwise, everything is super fukcing dark.
WTF! I've been trying to figure this out now for a while... I want to cry....
If I need Adobe Gamma, we're the hell can I download it! argh!

i recently sorted out my Gamma, if u have photoshop 7 you will have it, go to your control panel(ok bear with me im a PC user) and you should find Adobe Gamma, then go through the wizard....its amazing the change somthing so small can give.
